Resolve Health Issues
There are plenty of health issues that can hinder your ability to sleep. If you take care of those issues then you’ll be at least one step closer to a better night’s sleep.
Sleep apnea, obesity, allergies, and asthma can all hinder your sleep. Many of these encourage snoring which not only wakes you up at night but can also make it more difficult for the people sleeping in the same room with you to get a good night’s sleep. Adjust The Temperature
You need the right temperature in your bedroom in order to sleep comfortably. If it’s too cold even bundling in blankets isn’t going to be enough. Have your home at a regulated 65 degrees Fahrenheit, or somewhere in that vicinity, for best sleeping temperature.
Have The Right Bedding
If you sweat a lot at night you can invest in a pillow that has cooling properties. You also don’t want to be using flannel sheets in the summer. Sometimes all you need in the summer is a good set of cotton sheets and a light blanket on hand just in case.
If you tend to have allergies you want to avoid feather pillows and down comforters. You also want to control the dust in your bedroom by vacuuming under the bed often and washing your sheets, pillows, and pillow cases on a regular basis.
Nix The Lights
Some people just need complete darkness in order to get into a deep sleep at night. If you have to sleep at odd hours of the day due to a third shift job you may need to invest in some curtains that block the light from your windows if you ever want to get a good night’s sleep. Ditch any kind of plug-in items that give off lights, steady or flashing.
Your tech devices count as lights in this manner as well and they are definitely ruining your sleep. The luminous displays from these lights mimic natural light and trick your body into thinking it’s daytime. Instead of reading on your phone before bed, get a Kindle made with no luminous lighting or read a real book by a soft desk light. And always keep the television out of the bedroom!
